Step Up’s Pathways to Professions is a career exploration program that exposes our underserved teen girls to various careers through monthly field trips to Los Angeles Companies and in addition providing each teen with one-on-one mentoring with a professional woman from Step Up Network.
Classes are held at Environmental Science and Technology High School 2930 Fletcher Dr., Los Angeles, Ca 90065.If you have trouble finding us, look for anyone in an orange tee shirt or contact Nickie by phone (m: 312.259.6451) with any questions! Parking is available in the surrounding streets.
We would like to have the volunteer arrive at 2:15pm to assist in class preparation and for a quick brief of the upcoming class. Classes will run from 2:30pm to 4:15pm every Wednesday. If you are available to stay after class to help put supplies away, we can use your help then too. If you already have a Step Up tee, please wear it. Casual clothes are fine as well.
-During the opening class, we would like volunteers to introduce themselves and their profession.
-Girls are broken up into groups to work on project based activities. Volunteers are asked to participate in each class by floating from group to group and providing positive encouragement.
-We encourage you to mingle with the young women, ask them questions and begin rapport with them.(Warning: they are teenagers so if they are more interested in talking with their friends, do not take it personally!)
Please feel free to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (m: 312.259.6451) with any questions!
