This program is a unique, one-of-a-kind opportunity for a company to give back to the community and truly change the life of a teen girl living in an underserved community.  Please contact Program Manager, Kristen Baldwin (Kristen@suwn.org) for more information and to help!

  • The direct-service philanthropy the program offers to Young Luminaries mentors is unmatched in any other Step Up program (and very few other programs in New York); the relationship that develps between the intern and company supervisor over the 6 to 8 week experience is extraordinary and lasting
  • Young Luminaries internships are paid because it is a necessity; students would otherwise have to search for paid summer jobs to support their families that do not build workplace skills
  • The cost of the internship is minimal in comparison to the impact.  The minimum commitment is 20 hours per week for 6 weeks at NY state minimum wage ($7.15 per hour), which means a company can participate for a contribution of only $858.
