Give one day to make a difference
in the life of a college-bound teen girl.
College Connections Conference
proudly presented by:
McKechnie Vehicle Components
U.S. Bank
Enjoy an impactful one-day mentorship opportunity that pairs you with a teen girl to support as she prepares for her journey to college. Given that most Step Up teens will be the first in their family to attend college, your participation as a successful, college-educated career woman provides inspiration and support that ignites big dreams and supports our college-bound culture.
As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with your mentee in various conference workshops and activities. You will serve as a source of inspiration and motivation with your encouraging attitude and stories of your own personal college journey. No specialized knowledge in the college application process is required.
You will take your mentee through workshop sessions such as:
Campus Scavenger Hunt
College Search: How to Find Your Perfect Fit
Application Basics & Mock Admissions
Get Money: Scholarships and Financial Aid 101
College Student Q&A
Goal Setting: Creating Your Path to College
As a mentor, you need only bring the following:
A desire to make an impact on the lives of underserved teen girls
A spirit of encouragement for higher-education
A commitment to attend the entire day
A fun, flexible and energetic attitude
Register by October 20 to secure your spot!
By registering for this event, you are committing to be matched with a teen mentee for the day. If any conflict arises, you must contact Step Up as soon as possible so we can arrange for a substitue mentor.
Step Up strongly encourages all mentors to dial in to one of our orientation calls to prepare for the event. Information about the orientation calls will be emailed to those who register.
