Become a mentor for an afternoon by volunteering in Step Up's after-school programs at Mendez Learning Center!
Your role as a mentor is to engage the girls in class activities and share your own experience. Your story of challenge and success makes a big impact!
Volunteer expectations:
a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young women
a fun, flexible and energetic attitude
your commitment to attend the class session you register for (register for as many or as few as you'd like!)
9th and 10th Grade: Confidence Curriculum
The 9th and 10th grade curriculum aims to assist youth in creating a working definition of confidence and help girls develop confidence in all areas of their lives. The primary focus is on peer relationships, relationship with self, identity and voice.
About Step Up Teen Programs
Step Up empowers high school girls in under-resourced communities to reach their full potential through dynamic, after-school and Saturday enrichment programming that helps them become confident, college-bound and career-ready.
A week before your mentoring date, you'll be contacted with more information about each program so you can choose which one is right for you.
