What Step Up Means to Me

A place where we are free to be we genuinely
Where we can strive hard for success
It brings the best out of us none the less
Im a writer
Im a reader
Im a dreamer
And they always make me feel like a believer
Room 114 from 7 to 3 is a world history class
But from 3 to 5:50 it’s my poetry class
Where I can read and write affectionately
Expressing how it feels to be me
But writing isn't the only thing
I can read to the peers that wont judge me for me
I once expressed my thoughts privately
Once afraid of what people would think
But now that I see
That people love me for me
I wonder what they expect to see
When there is no more me?
Step Up a place where we can be we genuinely
Where all the drama is set free
Like my pen to the paper
The words move me to another place outside of my reality
Or is my reality what sets me free?
I guess we will just have to wait and see
Where this reality leads me
As long as the Step Up girls are behind me
There is no worries about my reality
Step Up a place where we can be we expressing ourselves genuinely
That's what it means to me.
