Step Up Women’s History Month Mentoring Opportunities

Write a Letter to a Step Up Girl!

This year's Women’s History Month theme is "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion." Step Up invites you and/or your team to write messages to our young women ages 14-29 answering one of the prompts below. Think about highlighting the qualities that teens and young adults can use to be successful in their journeys to success! If you are interested in this opportunity, contact us at mentor@suwn.org to receive your mentee details.

Prompts

  • Who is a woman that inspires you? What qualities do they posses? How can they be inspiring to a teen girl?
  • Do you have a women role model who has helped to guide you on your path? What tips did they share that would be helpful to a teen girl?
  • Share a tool/resource/ practice you use that helps you to feel confident!
  • Share a mantra that guides you when making decisions or facing a challenge.

Sample Letter:

Hi [MENTEE NAME]!

My name is [YOUR NAME] and I am a mentor at Step Up which connected me with you through their outreach initiative. In honor of Women’s History Month, I wanted to share a woman who is a role model in my life.

[share role model’s name, why they are a role model to you, how they are leading the way in their field and speaking up, how they achieved success]

One main lesson I’ve taken away from [role model] is [share a quality that teens can use to be successful in their journeys to success].
