AmeriCorps VISTA members are volunteers in service to America who help alleviate the stresses and conditions of poverty. During 2020, we saw many changes and adaptations happen in our day to day, but that did not stop some amazing young women from making a difference.
The fall of 2020 brought Step Up eight AmeriCorps members from different parts of our nation who came together on a virtual platform to form our very first AmeriCorps VISTA cohort. Each young woman brought their unique perspective and talent to help us better serve the Step Up community. We could not be any prouder of each VISTA member for stepping up to the challenge of volunteering to help young girls become confident, driven, and successful young women.
AmeriCorps VISTA members pledge to be committed to at least one year of service. This new year of VISTA service, we have five returning for a second year, and three new VISTAs.
We want to thank the three outgoing VISTA members for all of their hard work and dedication this past year: Kathlyn Carney, Alexandra Folsom, and Amanda Hayes. Their impact on the Step Up community will be everlasting. But this isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later. We hope to see you continue your Step Up service as mentors!
Join us in celebrating our new 2021-2022 VISTA cohort! As VISTAs embark on their service with Step Up, we wish them a year full of growth and wonderful memories.
