It may be the shortest time of the year but it is the most exhilarating. Black History Month is important to me because it reminds me how far we have overcome in our community. The good and the bad, but most of all it shows that we are courageous and we are strong. Not only does it show everything we had and will continue to overcome, but we also get to celebrate the culture.
Our culture shows in the way how we are now with our art and music. It also gives us the time to pay respect for our ancestors for paving the way for us. Even though, it may seem like we are taking things for granted, we are thankful for everything. We continue to strive and continue to show Black Excellence and that is what Black History Month is all about. It is a constant reminder that we are and still rising.
