ATLANTA - November 30, 2017 - Step Up and Coach will celebrate the arrival of Step Up's confidence-building programs for teen girls in Atlanta with a launch event at Coach in Lenox Square on December 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The nonprofit's expansion to Atlanta will be its fifth chapter, and is made possible through the backing of the Coach Foundation. To commemorate the occasion, Coach will donate 10% of the evening's proceeds to Step Up's new efforts in Atlanta.
"We are excited to celebrate our arrival in Atlanta and thank our investor, the Coach Foundation, for making it possible to bring our confidence-building, college and career prep after-school programs to local teen girls," Step Up CEO Jenni Luke said. "We can't wait to meet the women and girls who will become the founding members and teens of our fifth chapter of Step Up."
The Step Up programs will be in four public high schools in Atlanta. The Atlanta chapter marks the second new market for the nonprofit within the last two years. The Coach Foundation has pledged $3 million over three years in support of after-school and weekend confidence-building programs that inspire teen girls to dream big. The nonprofit's four-year curriculum focuses on social and emotional learning, support from mentors, and access to opportunities that help girls envision and achieve their ambitions.
Leading up to the December 7 event, Step Up is seeking 100 local women to become its founding members in Atlanta. Step Up members are women with a passion for championing confidence and inclusivity for all girls and can choose to become mentors in Step Up's programs. The founding members will be celebrated at the December 7 event with a special toast. Annual memberships are secured through a tax-deductible gift of $75 or more and are available at suwn.org/join.
