Leila Shin is currently the director of strategy focused on the Consumer Markets & Retail Industry at KPMG. At the end of 2014, Leila generously started supporting Step Up at the Luminary Circle level of $1,000. Growing up, Leila had a lot of strong women, such as her mother and sister, to look up to and go to for support. It is because of their support, and other significant women mentors at her work, that she made it to where she is today. Leila’s strong belief in the power of mentorship inspired her to give at the Luminary Circle level.
“I truly believe that the mentorship, programming and support that Step Up provides young women makes a great impact on their lives and will set them up for success in the future. I want to be able to give back to young women and give them a chance to achieve their aspirations.”
Leila, who travels Monday through Thursday and sometimes Friday, is truly an inspiration to us all. It is not enough for Leila to make such a generous gift to Step Up, but she also finds time in her busy travel schedule to mentor Step Up teens on the weekend and take part in Step Up’s Connections Committee. “The young women I meet in the mentoring programs are my inspiration. They are inspiring individuals who have great strength, poise, and determination to be successful under whatever circumstances they come from.”
