Step Up Class of 2015 Step Up senior Maria has been selected as the 2015 Inspiration Awards teen honoree.
Throughout her youth, Maria always wanted to help others but didn’t know how. But she says her four years of Step Up programs helped her understand how she might be able to make an impact.
Like mentors have done for her, Maria intends to demonstrate to youth coming from communities lacking luxuries that they can contribute a lot to society and that they are worthy.
Having learned to be confident in her own voice, Maria advises others to “Challenge your fears even if you fail, because at least you are learning something. If you don't, then your talents, skills and passions will never be explored. The road of life is hard, but once you’re on it, you are unstoppable and you have the right to enjoy the beautiful view.”
