NEW YORK - September 12, 2017 – Mentorship organization Step Up will gather some of New York's sharpest business minds at the nonprofit's sixth annual Power Hour, presented by the Coach Foundation on Thursday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. at Harvard Club of New York City. The event celebrates the impact of mentorship, bringing together influential names for the evening, while raising funds for Step Up's after-school and weekend mentorship programs for teen girls living or going to school in under-resourced communities.
The event will fête Mentorship Champion Linda Yaccarino, chairman of advertising sales and client partnerships for NBCUniversal, and Serena, who participates in Step Up's after-school programs at The Young Women's Leadership School of East Harlem as a member of the Class of 2018.
Hoda Kotb, host of the fourth hour of NBC's "TODAY," will serve as emcee for the evening and will present the Mentorship Champion distinction to Yaccarino.
The event will be preceded by a 6:00 p.m. Girls' Lounge panel, featuring a conversation curated by Girls' Lounge Founder Shelley Zalis. Zalis will moderate the discussion featuring Sheinelle Jones, co-anchor of NBC News' "Weekend TODAY" and a mid-week correspondent for "TODAY," Danielle Lee, global head of partner solutions at Spotify, and Katie Hockmeyer, producer of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
"Power Hour connects inspiring thought leaders committed to impacting the next generation through mentorship," Step Up CEO Jenni Luke said. "We look forward to once again bringing influencers together in the name of philanthropy, and recognizing Linda and Serena for all they do to inspire mentorship in their communities."
The Coach Foundation will again serve as the event's presenting sponsor and will be represented by Margaret Coady, executive director of the Coach Foundation. The event also has the support of platinum sponsors, IPG Mediabrands (Initiative, MAGNA and UM) and NBCUniversal. Susan Aminoff (WPP Health & Wellness) and Hilary Smith (NBCUniversal) serve as co-chairs of the event. Grey Group's Marnie Cain chairs the Step Up New York chapter board of directors.
Sponsorships begin at $5,000 and are available at suwn.org/ph or by calling 646.833.3021.
