NEW YORK – September 28, 2015 – National mentorship nonprofit Step Up will gather some of New York’s sharpest business minds at the nonprofit’s fourth annual Power Hour on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hearst Tower in partnership with Marie Claire.
The event will celebrate mentorship, providing guests with coveted access to inspiring mentors for the evening, while raising funds for Step Up’s programs for teen girls from under-resourced communities.
The event will also fête mentorship champion and newly minted president of Rent The Runway Maureen Sullivan (AOL’s former president of AOL.com and lifestyle brands) and honor The Vidal sisters, Alendi, Janet, Sandra and Vanessa, who all participated in Step Up’s after-school programs.
Stacy London, of TLC’s Love, Lust, or Run and ABC’s The View, will serve as emcee for the evening. London sits on the organization’s national board of directors and was the 2013 recipient of the event’s Mentorship Champion distinction.
“Power Hour connects inspiring industry-leaders who are committed to impacting the community with our network of ambitious teen girls,” Step Up CEO Jenni Luke said. “By sharing their time and talents at Power Hour, these mentors not only impact our guests, but also the girls who rely on our mentorship programs during their high school years.”
Actress and advocate Kelly Rutherford and television personality Bobbie Thomas will support the event as host committee members.
AOL is committed as the event’s first-ever presenting sponsor. The event also has the support of platinum sponsor NARS Cosmetics and media partner Marie Claire.
