With summer on its way, many students are gearing up to find part-time jobs or preparing for school interviews. Here's one way you can ensure you'll impress the interviewers: make sure to ask questions (and be intentional about what type of questions you ask)! It is a huge missed opportunity if you walk away from your interview without having asked a single question.
When you ask questions, this shows the interviewer how interested you are in the position, and further proves that you did your research into the company or school you are applying to. This is also an opportunity for you to see if the job or school is a good fit for you.
To get you started, here is a list of questions from Glassdoor.com that might help you in your next interview:
- What do you hope I will accomplish in this role?
- How does this position contribute to the organization's success?
- Tell me about the company culture?
- What goals do you have for the company over the next five years?
- How do leaders encourage employees to ask questions?
- How does employee feedback get incorporated into day-to-day operations?
- How often do you evaluate employee performance?
- Can you tell me about the team I'll be working with?
- What type of education/training opportunities does the company offer?
- What's the next step of this process, and when can I expect to hear from you?
Good luck on your next interview!
