In her 8-minutes on stage, she shared Step Up’s perspective on social capital – the resources available to us through our relationships, including information, influence, and credentials.
We know the term capital refers to resources – money being the most well-known.
And maybe we’ve heard of human capital – or capital that’s made of people’s talents, skills, and knowledge accumulated over time.
But with social capital, we’re talking about wealth of our relationships, connections and networks.
We all have social capital, and the world is full of opportunities for us to use it.
But how we choose to use it is key. And it will affect our communities moving forward.
Step Up calls on all of us to leverage our social capital with greater wisdom and purpose. Everyone has a part to play.
It is our responsibility and opportunity to work diligently to make the future a stronger, more inclusive place that recognizes and embraces everyone’s talents.
