Why did you join Step Up?
I joined Step Up in my freshman year at Muchin College Prep because I heard all of the amazing opportunities that Step Up has to offer. It was also a way for me to get to know more girls at my school and be more comfortable with new people.
How has Step Up made an impact in your life?
Step Up has impacted my life by encouraging me to be confident in myself. I came into Step Up as a shy, awkward 13-year-old girl who was scared to speak up and say the wrong things. I am now a shy, awkward 17-year-old young woman who knows how to communicate with people and have a voice that I didn't know I had in me.
Tell us about a memorable Step Up moment
My most memorable moment from Step Up occurred freshman year. I had lost someone close to me and I felt comfortable enough to just cry in front of all of my Step Up sisters and let them comfort me in my time of need. If there is anything that most people pick up from me it's that I do not like to show my emotions and try to keep them hidden and locked away. That day, and even to this day, I feel like I can trust my sisters and mentors with anything and they welcome me with open arms.
