Teen of the Month: New York's Noran

Noran Omar is a Step Up senior attending The Young Women’s Leadership School of Astoria. She joined Step Up’s Pathways to Professions programs last year as a way to be exposed to a variety of women using communication and technology skills in their careers, which is important to her as a future broadcast journalist, film editor, and producer. Currently, she is a co-founder and reporter of her own Youtube channel devoted to covering empowering events for today’s youth. Previously on her channel, she has featured special opportunities she received through Step Up, including serving as an on-site journalist at the Geena Davis Symposium. Connecting with women mentors has allowed Noran to meet women who inspire her to be a confident leader. This year, Noran hopes to continue building her leadership role by serving as a Step Up teen ambassador. She hopes to take a lead in teen social media marketing and write for Step Up’s blog.
