Tyra is a junior at The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem and has been involved in Step Up since her freshman year. She participates in Step Up’s Pathways to Professions program attending monthly Saturday workshops and after-school field trips to companies such as AOL, American Express, Dogfish Films and Lafayette 148 New York. Through Step Up, Tyra has had the opportunity to meet with female mentors and hear their personal stories. Tyra said, these women, “inspire me on my journey to success,” despite what obstacles she may face. For Tyra, Step Up provides a bond of sisterhood and a place to find her voice and share her ideas.
Tyra aspires to be the first in her family to graduate college. After college, Tyra dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and starting her own business. She credits Step Up for the confidence boost that fuels her belief that she can accomplish her dreams. We believe Tyra can accomplish anything she puts her mind to!
