Women + Girls Leading the Way: Khloe Thompson and How She’s Changing the World
Written by Mayra Vazquez. "Women + Girls Leading the Way" Series. "Women + Girls Leading the Way" is a series where, once a month, we'll take a look at amazing young individuals who have made a positive impact in their own lives, their communities and beyond, in order to celebrate their work and gain inspiration!

Khloe Thompson was only 8 years old when she started her own charity organization, proving that you really can make a change at any time, at any age. She observed that there were certain problems in her community that weren't being addressed and naturally knew that she could help. For example, something that made a big impact on her was when she learned about the homelessness situation in her city of Irvine. Khloe saw people living on the streets and thought that they deserve to be cared for.

With that in mind, she started creating kits or "Kare Bags" filled with toiletries and other necessities. She started small but now each of her Kare Bags are filled with enough supplies to last someone between 2-3 months! What's remarkable is that she also collaborates with other community-based organizations, churches, companies, and other folks in the community because she knows that you can make a bigger impact when you work with others as a team.

Khloe isn't just passionate about addressing the homelessness issue, she also wants to help young people connect with their purpose in life. She understands how it feels to be able to have a life where she gets to do something she loves and wants to teach other young people know that they can do the same. Her organization offers workshops that help young people of any age learn about business, leadership, public speaking, and so much more.

Khloe Thompson is now 13 years old and has made an immense impact, not just in the United States, but on a global scale through her work she's also done in Ghana. There is so much that we can learn from who she is and her work. She certainly makes you realize that you are never too young (or too old) to care and to act. As she puts it, "I like to be the example that at any age you are capable of making an impact. Never let your age stop you from being the next changemaker."
