Creating a Step Up Instagram account is not a requirement – but it’s a great way to meet teens where they’re at and keep up with current trends!

Why create a Step Up Instagram account?

Here’s why you should consider creating a Step Up Instagram account:

• Over 93% of teens in the United States use social media, and the numbers are increasing by the day.
• Chances are that the teens at your school aren’t checking their email multiple times a day – but they’re checking their phones constantly. A social media account is a great way to grab (and keep) their attention.
• Social media offers a quick, timely solution to your communication needs – especially if it’s the channel teens are using most frequently! If you have something you need to say, social media is the quickest way to do so.
• Bringing Step Up to social media makes the Step Up curriculum more welcoming, personable, and fun!
• By creating a Step Up Instagram account, you’re increasing Step Up’s visibility and allowing us to reach more students and mentors.
  

What should a Step Up Instagram account be used for?

A Step Up Instagram account can be used to support teen recruitment, share important information, and post fun photos of teens in action. It is largely up to the discretion of you and your teens.

How can I create a Step Up Instagram account?

To create an Instagram account, follow these steps from Instagram.

We recommend including your school name and “Step Up” in your Instagram handle. For example:

• @stepup_[schoolname]
• @[schoolname]_stepup
• @stepup[schoolname]

Once you’ve created your account, you’ll need to add a name and bio. We recommend making the name “Step Up [School Name].” Here are a few sample options for your bio:

• Welcome to Step Up! We’re here to offer you a safe space to connect and dream big. 💭 To join, contact [Fellow Name] at [Fellow email].
• Step Up is here to help you define and pursue your unique visions of success. 🧡
• No matter your goals, Step Up is here to help you reach them. Join us in [Classroom Number] on [Date, Time]! 💫
