Dr. Anjali Camara currently serves as Senior Vice President for Amwins and is responsible for the production and placement of all lines of Professional Liability risks, with a specialty focus on Cyber and Tech.
Prior to joining Amwins, Anjali’s experience in the wholesale insurance space spans nearly 15 years. She formerly headed the Cyber and Tech division for Connected Risk Solutions, which joined Amwins in 2024. There, she was responsible for premium production and revenue growth, cultivating key market and client relationships, and implementing strategic cyber initiatives and product development.
Anjali graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in business administration. She also holds a master’s degree in organizational management from DePaul University, a master’s in public policy and administration with a specialization in foreign policy from Northwestern University, and a doctorate in business administration from DePaul University, where her research focused on the impact of cybersecurity data and privacy regulation on cyber insurance claims.
Outside of her professional commitments, Anjali is deeply invested in philanthropy and creative enterprise. She leads fundraising efforts for the John Wesley Johnson Legacy Fund, a scholarship and mentorship initiative named in honor of her late father, which supports high school students in Mississippi pursuing education at HBCUs. Her dedication to celebrating Black excellence and investing in the next generation also inspired her to found KUNI—an apparel brand and capsule collection rooted in culture and legacy. Through intentional design, KUNI honors the history of HBCUs, with a portion of proceeds supporting scholarships and DEI-focused initiatives.
Anjali is also the founder of The Private Plug, an exclusive platform and curated dinner series designed to connect high-achieving women across industries through meaningful dialogue, mentorship, and community. Through intimate gatherings and storytelling-centered experiences, The Private Plug fosters powerful relationships, amplifies women's voices, and creates space for
collaboration, strategy, and elevation. With events hosted nationally, Anjali continues to build a legacy of intentional connection and empowerment for women navigating leadership, legacy, and influence.
In addition to her entrepreneurial ventures, Anjali has expanded into the hospitality space as an investor in Adalina Prime, a high-end Chicago steakhouse, further diversifying her business portfolio while championing culinary innovation and community-centered experiences. She remains deeply committed to service, dedicating her time on weekends to volunteer work,
charitable giving, and civic engagement through her beloved sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
