Gabriela Benavides is the membership development associate within Step Up’s external relations and membership development teams. In this position, Gabriela reviews membership data processes and helps refine and improve Step Up’s membership strategies.
Prior to joining Step Up, Gabriela received her B.S. in Biochemistry from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Her time at St. Mary’s allowed her to explore opportunities including research with Michigan State University and leading her school’s Alpha Phi Omega chapter, a co-ed community service fraternity.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Gabriela’s other interests include reading memoirs, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and going for walks around the lake.
What has your mentor taught you?
My mentor, Dr. Oxley, taught me what a good leader and mentor looks like. I admire her effective leadership style and was inspired by her during my undergraduate career as she was one of the only female professors in the Chemistry department.
What do you enjoy most about working at Step Up?
Being able to work with such a motivating and dedicated team to broaden the impact that Step Up can have on girls’ confidence has been really inspiring to witness.
