How has a Step Up mentor or experience supported your confidence, opened a door, or helped you discover a new path?
“Joining Step Up at such a formative age opened many doors to opportunities and experiences I otherwise would not have had. Step Up gave me my first internship, my first college tour, and the confidence to pursue opportunities. Experiencing mentorship and support was influential in my decision to study Sociology as an undergraduate, with a focus on education. Post‑graduation, I entered the education nonprofit sector, where my goal was to provide the same support I received to other young people. I spent almost a decade supporting first‑generation students as they navigated carving their own paths. Step Up was my firsthand example of the power of having someone believe in you.”
Where are you today?
“Currently, I work at Capital Group, where our mission is to improve people’s lives through successful investing. As a Consultant in the HR department, I am part of the Associate Experience team. Our work focuses on enhancing our culture, embedding our core values, and supporting meaningful moments across the associate lifecycle, so that everyone can do their best work and feel a strong sense of belonging.”
